About SASAA (Ltd)
Scottish Analytical Services for Art and Archaeology (SASAA) was founded in Glasgow, Scotland, UK in 1996 by Effie Photos-Jones (EP-J) for the purpose of providing cost-effective technical services and scientific analysis consultancy to the archaeological community in Scotland. At a time when materials-based scientific analysis was only superficially integrated within commercial archaeology, SASAA showed the benefits of embedding technical analysis within the study and preservation of our cultural heritage. In 2006, SASAA was incorporated to create Analytical Services for Art and Archaeology (Scotland) Ltd.
Over the period of twenty years, SASAA undertook a considerable number of projects following funding from commercial archaeological units in the UK and Ireland as well as research institutions to include the (then) Historic Scotland, the British Academy, national and regional museums and other organisations in the private and public sectors.
SASAA has been working closely with colleagues from the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde, as well as colleagues in Greek and Italian universities. SASAA director EP-J is also Senior Honorary Researcher at the School of Humanities University of Glasgow. EP-J is Principal Investigator of the AnBioMin Research Group.
